Hometown: Waverly, Ohio
Expected Graduation: Spring 2023
Hagen is a junior chemical and biomolecular engineering student from Waverly, Ohio, a small town located an hour west of Athens. Having always been fascinated by her aunt and uncle’s career, she chose to follow in their footsteps and pursue a degree in chemical engineering at Ohio University. Upon her very first step on the Athens campus, she fell in love and knew that this was her hOUme.
Hagen is pursuing the 4 + 1 Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program in biomedical engineering. She was instrumental in reviving the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) at Ohio University, where she currently serves as president.
Hagen recently completed a summer co-op position with Fluor-BWXT in Piketon, Ohio. During this rotation, she worked closely with radiation protection engineers to maintain radiation levels as low as reasonably achievable during the decontamination and decommissioning of the Portsmouth gaseous diffusion site for the safety of the employees and the community.
In her free time, you will find Hagen working in Dr. Monica Burdick’s lab, organizing events for the BMES, and participating in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and Alpha Lambda Delta.
