Hometown:Athens, Ohio
Expected Graduation: Spring 2023
Being from Athens, Suzan always knew she wanted to attend Ohio University. The gorgeous campus, the Bobcat family, the town’s culture, and of course the amazing food are what solidified her decision.
After coding her first program, she realized that she loved coding and knew that computer science was the field for her. When speaking with CS professors and ambassadors, she learned how great the CS program at OHIO is and the amazing opportunities it gives.
While a sophomore she obtained a Spanish minor, as she loves learning and studying new languages. Suzan also participated in the first Hackathon held at OU called Hackappalachia where her team made an App for event-finding in Athens.
Suzan is a member of Spanish Club and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and she is secretary of the OHIO chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). She is also a Peer tutor at OU for Spanish and Math.
Over this past summer, Suzan interned as an App Developer at Nationwide where she worked making API’s for the Annuity Space. She thoroughly enjoyed working on a team and meeting new people who share common interests in the tech field, as well as learning and gaining industry experience in the IT field.
In her free time Suzan enjoys longboarding, reading, playing ukulele and piano, hiking, and weightlifting.
