The University Singers are the Ohio University School of Music's flagship mixed choral ensemble, made up of many of the university’s most talented and dedicated singers. Under the direction of Director of Choral Activities Dr. Bradley Naylor, the University Singers are a mixed ensemble of 40-50 voices devoted to the outstanding performance of choral repertoire of all styles and periods.
Membership is open to qualified singers by audition. A significant percentage of ensemble members major in vocal performance, choral music education, and music therapy; in addition to presenting public concerts, the ensemble provides professional training for these students planning careers in music.
University Singers is often invited to perform at conferences of the Ohio Music Education Association and Music Educators National Conference. Recent events have included appearances on National Public Radio; a concert with The Rolling Stones; and tours internationally, regionally in the Eastern United States, and throughout Ohio.
The ensemble has presented the Ohio premieres of several important choral works, including Eric Whitacre's "Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine" and John Rutter's "Magnificat," under the composer's direction.
