The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) has recently announced that Ohio University graduate student Ryan Biller has been named a PCAOB Scholar for the 2021-22 academic year.
Biller, from Heath, Ohio, is in the full-time Master of Accountancy program (MAcc) at Ohio University and also graduated from OHIO in Spring 2021 with a BBA in finance and accounting.
“I feel incredibly honored to be a PCAOB scholar because of many reasons,” Biller said. “It allows me to realize all the hard work and time spent over the last four years was worth it and that University faculty believed in me to best represent what being a PCAOB scholar means. I am extremely grateful for the countless members of Ohio University that have put me in a position to succeed.”
Biller is one out of 253 students from U.S. colleges and universities to be selected for the award and receive a $10,000 scholarship.
“I would like to thank Professor Shea Burden, as she was one of my first accounting professors that helped me realize I was in the right field and helped me get into the MAcc. I would also like to thank David and Ann Stott for believing in me and giving me opportunities to fulfill my potential,” Biller said. “I will always be grateful for Ohio University and the amazing people here.”
The PCAOB Scholars Program aims to benefit students who are likely to become accountants and auditors. PCAOB Scholars are nominated by their educational institution, and participating educational institutions select their nominees from students enrolled in their accounting degree programs.
“Congratulations to our PCAOB Scholars who achieved this distinction during an unquestionably challenging period for students everywhere,” said PCAOB Acting Chairperson Duane M. DesParte. “The PCAOB is pleased to help support these dedicated individuals on their paths to becoming leaders in accounting and auditing.”
