Proposals welcome for new DEIABJ workshop series

The Division of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost are seeking workshop proposals for diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, belonging, and/or justice (DEIABJ) education, development, and/or training workshops for the campus community. 

The DEIABJ workshop series is designed to support OHIO’s commitment to inclusive excellence by building an intentional culture of inclusion, creating an enriching academic experience that expands civic engagement and cultural competency, and ensures individual success and retention needs of an increasingly diverse community.

Proposals focused on DEIABJ topics are welcome. Suggested topics include (but are not limited to) racial/ethnic identity development theories, internal and external diversity (e.g., LGBTQ+, generational, neurodiversity), approaches to inclusive pedagogy, equitable student learning outcomes, identity-conscious program development and design, and sense of belonging. Proposals appropriate for a broad audience including faculty, staff, students, and community members are preferred.

“This provides an opportunity for our faculty/staff to share their areas of expertise or research on DEIABJ topics with the entire community and help elevate and deepen our understanding of these important issues, as we continue to build a culture of inclusivity and respect,” said Dr. Salome Nnoromele, interim vice president for Diversity and Inclusion.

Proposals should include specifics about the workshop, including workshop title, description, audience, intended learning outcomes, workshop length, workshop format, post-workshop action item for participants, and proposed post-workshop assessment.

The Division of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost will evaluate proposals and fund up to six proposals for the Spring 2023 semester. Faculty and staff will be offered up to $500 for designing, delivering, and assessing one workshop. 

Proposals are due Nov. 1, 2022. All proposals will be evaluated and selected by Dec. 5, 2022. The workshop series will begin in Spring 2023.
