This June marks 150 years since Margaret “Maggie” Boyd made history as Ohio University’s first female graduate. Today, we continue to honor Boyd’s pioneering spirit and perseverance.
In the 150 years to follow, women at OHIO have made significant contributions to the culture and success of our institution.
The Margaret Boyd Scholars Program is a testament to Boyd’s legacy. A new cohort of diverse undergraduate students is selected yearly, and scholars are provided with opportunities for mentorship, academic advancement, community engagement and networking. The program seeks to inspire and encourage students to become engaged, confident, and connected leaders who are empathetic and socially responsible at Ohio University. Anyone hoping to join in celebrating Boyd’s legacy can now donate to give their support to the program.
