Ohio University has launched two new recognitions to further highlight student excellence – the President’s List and Provost’s List.
Alongside the Dean’s List, OHIO’s new President’s and Provost’s Lists enable OHIO to more broadly recognize both full-time and part-time undergraduate students and their continued commitment to academic achievement.
“At OHIO, we provide our students with numerous opportunities and pathways to achieve success – it’s important to us,” said Ohio University President Hugh Sherman. “It’s equally important that we take time to recognize student accomplishments, and the creation of the President’s and Provost’s Lists will expand our collective abilities to do so.”
More than 8,700 OHIO students qualified for the President’s, Dean’s or Provost’s Lists for spring semester 2023. Complete details for each list are now available online .

Recognizing student success through exemplary academic achievement
At the end of each semester, Ohio University’s undergraduate students are evaluated based on their semester GPA and hours to determine placement on the President’s List, Dean’s List or Provost’s List.
The President’s List distinction is presented to undergraduate students who exhibit an exceptional commitment to academic excellence each semester. Criteria for the President’s List include a 4.0 GPA for the given semester with a minimum of 12 credit hours attempted for letter grades that are used to calculate GPA.
- In spring semester 2023, 1,639 Ohio University undergraduate students qualified for the inaugural President’s List. A complete listing is available online .
The Provost’s List recognition is shared with high-achieving, part-time undergraduate students who exemplify academic success. Qualifying students must possess a 3.5 or greater GPA and between 6 and 11.99 credit hours attempted for letter grades that are used to calculate GPA.
- In spring semester 2023, 2,124 of Ohio University’s part-time undergraduate students qualified for the inaugural Provost’s List. A complete listing is available online.
The Dean’s List recognizes undergraduate students who complete a particular semester with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.999 with a minimum of 12 credit hours attempted for letter grades that are used to calculate GPA.
