Ohio University Human Resources, with guidance from a work group that included administrative staff, faculty, senate representatives and representatives from AFSCME 3200, is launching a new, streamlined performance management framework.
As part of this change, performance evaluations for all administrative staff and members of the AFSCME 3200 union will move to a calendar year versus fiscal year system beginning with 2025. Moving forward, the performance measurement period will be Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 with performance evaluations due no later than April 15 of the subsequent calendar year.
“As we work to respond to OHIO’s Dynamic Strategy with the expansion of reward programs and opportunities for professional growth, timely and consistent evaluations will be an important baseline for tracking performance,” said Vice President for Human Resources Mary Elizabeth Miles. “I want to thank the team that came together to help us remodel this process to make it more efficient and effective for our staff.”
The new framework includes a new Employee Performance Self-Assessment and a Performance Evaluation Form. In order to make the move from fiscal to calendar year, employees and managers will move forward with performance evaluations in January. The initial evaluation will consider your 2024 evaluation period start date through Dec. 31. So, if your last review period ended May 31, your January evaluation will consider performance June 1-Dec. 31. From 2025 onwards, the measurement period will consistently be January 1 to December 31.
Beginning Oct. 28 through the end of January, Human Resources will offer training sessions for both supervisors and employees.
