Ohio University will celebrate Moms Weekend April 4-6 with a wide variety of events for Bobcats and their family members.
From April 7–13, the Athens International Film + Video Festival will present its 52nd edition, showcasing over 200 films from more than 58 countries at the historic Athena Cinema in uptown Athens, OH.
Ohio University will host lectures, exhibits, presentations and events that will encourage the study of the history Black Americans while focusing on the national theme of “African Americans and Labor."

The “From the Hills and Hollers: Appalachian Stories” film series will be shown with free admission, with events running from Sept 14, 2023 to April 18, 2024 in various locations.
Athena Cinema staff will continue working in the building throughout fall semester, and the front portion of the building is anticipated to remain open for regular lobby hours and sidewalk sales. Additionally, both local businesses located at 20 South Court St. will continue to maintain their regular operations.
This summer, everyone across the Athens community is invited to stay cool, enjoy delicious concessions treats and engage in the timeless tradition of watching movies on the big screen.
The closure, which impacts all three theater spaces and is tentatively planned to extend through the summer, comes after a recent building inspection identified some potential structural maintenance needs within the 108-year-old theater space.
