The Grants 101 learning series provides learning opportunities and skill development for faculty who are interested in learning more about grants. The goal of the workshop series is to assist faculty success with understanding how to find, write, and apply for external grants. Topics include grant writing, finding grants, budgets, and grant management.
Structure
The individual learning series is a collaboration between the Research Division and the Office of the Provost . The learning series includes five, 55-minute virtual sessions offered through MS Teams. The five-part series includes:
- Introduction to Grants – Oct. 18
- Grant Writing Basics – Oct. 25
- Budget Development– Nov. 1
- Finding Grant Funding – Nov. 8
- Post Award Management – Nov. 15

- Interface with available resources at the university to assist them with grant development.
- Initiate an exploration of available funding, internal and external to the university.
- Understand expectations laid out in application guidelines and write responsive proposals.
- Construct budgets and budget justifications to support the activities outlined in a proposal.
- Project personal resources and time allocation to successfully manage a grant.
