Academic Advocacy

Academic Advocacy is designed to assist students experiencing complex barriers to success. Academic Advocates work with students to identify the root causes of academic struggles, offer strategies for overcoming obstacles, and connect students to appropriate resources, such as tutoring, counseling, accommodations, financial aid, and more. This service is dedicated to ensuring that students have the support they need to navigate challenges and remain on track toward achieving their academic goals. An academic advocate serves as your case manager and will support you until the challenge is resolved.

Support may include:

  • Coordinated case management to connect students to appropriate resources and services
  • Guidance for students in navigating University policies, processes and petitions, including probation, withdrawal, reinstatement, grade appeals, tuition appeals and Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Academic advising and development of an academic success plan to get back on track—or to stay on track—for graduation
  • Collaboration with your academic college or campus to identify most appropriate solutions and to ensure coordinated support
  • Proactive outreach to students who may have indicators of academic difficulty that could prevent persistence or graduation
