Current Use

The Aquatic Center is located between Grover Center, Walter Hall, and Bird Arena, at coordinate G-5 on the campus map. It is marked as #109 on the map.

The Aquatic Center houses the pool and locker rooms for the Ohio University Bobcat men's and women's swimming teams. It is open to students, faculty, staff, and the community for recreational and educational use.

History

The Aquatic Center opened in 1984. Planning for the Center began in 1979 with financial support from the Nationwide Insurance Foundation. The building has a pool, administrative offices, men's and women's locker rooms. The pool is 50 meters by 25 meters and holds more than 645,000 gallons of water. The 13 wooden beams in the ceiling are timber of Douglas fir, Western Larch, Southern Pine, and California Redwood. The building has a sun deck overlooking Walter Hall and Bicentennial Park.
