Thesis and Dissertation Services

Thesis and Dissertation (TAD) Services is a part of the Graduate College and processes all theses and dissertations for Ohio University graduate students. TAD Services assists students in meeting formatting requirements for publication, by reviewing theses and dissertations and granting final approval, as well as providing instructions for completing the final steps required for publication and graduation.

For many advanced degrees at Ohio University, the master's thesis or doctoral dissertation is a requirement. Nearly the entire TAD process can be completed online. This website houses all of the resources needed to meet Ohio University's publication requirements and complete the final steps before graduation.

Each student writing a thesis or dissertation must complete the TAD Process in order to graduate.The TAD Process Checklist [PDF]  provides step-by-step guidance beginning with students sending a TAD Submission Form and thesis or dissertation to tad@ohio.edu .

Students completing their degrees through research papers or other capstone projects may not be bound to the deadlines and guidelines on this site. If there are any questions, please verify deadlines and requirements with your department or college. TAD Services is unable to assist students in completing research papers or projects with formatting or technical issues.

Spring Deadlines

• Graduation Application Deadline (Thesis & Dissertation): Monday, February 19th, 2024 - 5 PM EDT
• Oral Defense Deadline (Dissertation):
  Friday, March 15, 2024
• Oral Defense Deadline (Thesis): Friday, April 5th, 2024
• Post-Defense Format Review Deadline (Dissertation):
  Friday, March 22, 2024 at 3 p.m.
• Post-Defense Format Review Deadline (Thesis):Friday, April 12, 2024 at 3 p.m.
• Final Clearance Deadline and TAD Process Complete (Dissertation):
  Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 3 p.m.
• Final Clearance Deadline and TAD Process Complete (Thesis):Friday, April 26, 2024 at 3 p.m.

Early for Summer Deadlines (note that all deadlines in this section apply to both dissertation and thesis)

• Graduation Application Deadline: Monday, July 15, 2024
• Oral Defense Deadline: Friday, April 26th, 2024
• Post-defense Format Review Deadline: Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at 12 Noon
• Final Clearance Deadline: Friday, May 10th, 2024 at 12 Noon
