Ohio University Chillicothe invites the community to attend a free Health and Safety Fair and Touch a Truck experience at the Shoemaker Center on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families with children and adults of all ages are welcome to explore health and wellness related booths. The Touch a Truck experience will include fire trucks, a school bus, a snowplow, the Chillicothe Trolley and more. Hayrides will be available throughout the day.
“We are very pleased to be hosting the Community and Safety Fair again at the Shoemaker Center on Ohio University Chillicothe’s campus," said Dr. Roberta Milliken, dean of Campus and Community Relations. "The event is a great way to explore and discover services and opportunities our community offers to help us all be more healthy and safe.”
The fair was designed with the entire family in mind. Participants will engage with exhibits and vendors to learn about health and wellness services in the area. Educate yourself on healthy eating, exercise options, and other wellness activities at the fair. Representatives from local healthcare providers, wellness facilities, and programs will be on hand to answer questions and provide services.
Local entertainer Lori Graves will serve as the emcee for the fair which features a lineup of live entertainment and instructional classes throughout the day. These sessions include Bicycle Safety and Trail Riding with the Ross County Parks District, Tabata and kickboxing with the Ross County YMCA, and yoga with Explorer Yoga.
The upper parking lot, adjacent to the Shoemaker Center, will house the Touch a Truck experience. Get up close and personal with your favorite big rigs. Truck lovers young and young at heart will have fun interacting with emergency and public safety vehicles.
This event, hosted by Ohio University Chillicothe’s Health and Wellness Committee with support from Adena Health System, is free and open to the public with no registration required.
