PSY 2110—Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences

Prerequisites

University Requisite: (MATH 1200 or 1300 or 2301 or Math placement level 2 or higher) and WARNING: not COMS 3520 or MATH 2500 or QBA 2010

No credit if MATH 2500, QBA 2010, or COMS 3520 have already been taken.

Course Overview

Introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics with emphasis on inferential statistics.

Methods of Course Instruction

All material for this course is print-based. Instructor and students communicate and exchange materials through postal mail. You may submit your assignments as e-mail attachments, but your graded assignments will be returned to you by postal mail.

(Please note some lessons are divided into multiple parts.)

Types of Writing Assignments

A total of 14 assignments are required to complete this course (ten actual lesson assignments, two review quizzes [considered as Lessons 4 and 10], and a midterm and final exam = 14 total). The midterm exam is considered as Lesson 7 and the Final exam is Lesson 14. 

Grading Criteria

The actual grading in this course is based on the total points earned through the 14 assignments, quizzes, and exams:

  1. The number of correct answers (points) on the ten submitted lesson assignments (Lessons 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, and 13).
  2. The number of correct answers (points) earned on the two review quizzes/exams (Lesson 4 and Lesson 10)
  3. The number of correct answers (points) earned on the Midterm Exam (Lesson 7)
  4. The number of correct answers (points) earned on the Final Exam (Lesson 14). 
  5. There are a total of 1540 points to be earned in the course. Grading is on a 12-point scale and will be as follows:
