Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs’ online Master of Public Administration (MPA) program earned a number 12 spot in the SR Education Group’s 2019 ranking of the Best Online Colleges Offering MPA Programs .
The ranking took note of the online MPA’s two concentrations: non-profit management and public leadership and management. In the non-profit management concentration, students learn how to identify service gaps in their community, fuse social responsibility and entrepreneurship and use technology and data to fundraise. The public leadership and management track focuses on teaching how to blend efficacy and ethics, while maximizing financial resources and personnel.
“This ranking is a distinct accomplishment, given the program’s short two-year existence. The Voinovich School has a long history of educating public servants in the region and Ohio through our traditional on-campus MPA program and executive MPA program in Central Ohio,” Dr. Jason Jolley, Voinovich School MPA program director and associate professor, said. “We are excited at the opportunity that the new online format has brought us in teaching leaders in nonprofit, government, public service and businesses across the country the skills they need to make a difference in their organization.”
According to the SR Education Group, the rankings are based on two main factors: salary potential and tuition rates. The list is meant to determine which colleges offer the best value to students. The new rankings use up-to-date alumni salary data from PayScale and tuition rates across degree level and program.
The methodology uses median mid-career salary data based on bachelor, master, and specific program data, according to the press release . This year’s rankings encompass 861 schools total, and 185 schools offering MPAs.
Ranked as 39 th in the top 50 innovative public service schools in the country by Best Value Schools, and recently elevated to the 77 th top U.S. News and World Report Best Public Affairs Grad School, the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs finds researched-based solutions to challenges facing communities, the economy and the environment. By blending real-world problem solving and government, nonprofit sector and industry partnerships with education, students are offered unique learning opportunities as they prepare for careers serving the public interest in Ohio University's rural region and beyond.
