Biographical note

George W. Blakeley was born on August 12, 1851 to Harvey and Susan Blakeley in Athens County, Ohio. His father was born in Pennsylvania, June 19, 1803, and came to Ohio in 1844, and lived on a farm near Athens. His mother was born in New York in 1807, and died in December, 1854. George was the youngest of eleven children. He was educated in Athens county, and studied medicine with Dr. H. M. Lash in Athens. He graduated from Columbus Medical College in 1878. He lived and practiced in Guysville. He married Ollie M. Pruden on September 15th, 1880. Ollie Pruden was born in Athens County on January 18, 1862. Blakeley was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and belonged to Savannah Lodge, No. 466, A. F. & A. M.
