Belmont County - Joseph Pappano, 1976 - 1978
Scope and Contents
Mr. Pappano was in the space program, then returned to the Belmont County area. In 1970 he ran for Congress against Wayne Hays and lost this primary race. He worked in the Gilligan administration, and in 1976 ran successfully for Belmont County Treasurer. In 1978 he ran for State Rep., and was again the victim of Wayne Hays, in a three-way primary contest. He states that he has read that the color blue is retained in the human eye the longest, hence has adopted this as his basic "color" with white. He also states that he has a song spelling his name that he has developed that he expects will be be long remembered by the youngsters of Belmont County; this was unabtainable at the time these materials were collected.
