Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Series 5 contains written Senate Bill testimonies and is arranged alphabetically. In 2021, the Ohio State Legislature considered House Bill 322 and 327, which sought to regulate curriculum and instruction in public K-12 schools by limiting discussions of sexism and racism in the classroom. In 2022, it also considered Senate Bill 214, which would mandate the teaching of Asian American history in public K-12 schools. Members of the Athens Asian American Alliance organized a campaign in opposition to House Bill 322 and 327 and in support of Senate Bill 214. They reached out to Alexis Karolin and Morgan Spehar, who coordinated the submission of individual testimonies in support of Senate Bill 214 from members of the Asian American Pacific Islander Student Union. The donors individually donated written testimonies to the collection.
