Scope and Content
The collection is composed of all the material accumulated by Bingham to research his ancestry. Included are numerous article off-prints, which arranged according to state, and are a of a chiefly historical nature; a few family genealogies, bits of 19th century marriage records and censuses, and other miscellaneous pieces of genealogical information that were helpful to Bingham in his research. The material covers not only the Bingham family, but other families from the New England area, including Prudden, Bartlett, Hewitt, Chandler, Royce, and Evert, as well as other families in the Connecticut and Rhode Island areas.
The bulk of the material is arranged according to the state to which it pertains. Such states covered are Connecticut, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia. Additional material, which has no geographical basis, is located at the end of the collection, and includes various genealogies, as well as other genealogical sources and references.
