The Allen and Phyllis Knisley papers includes two distinct series. The first comprises historic and biographical materials created after World War II such as histories of the Third Armored Division and autobiographies written by Allen and Phyllis, as well as, materials dating from the 1920s to the 1940s including photographs and scrapbooks.

The second series is titled Correspondence and it includes Allen and Phyllis's war correspondence with over a hundred letters that Allan sent to Phyllis; a dozen or so of the letters Phyllis sent to Allen; letters Phyllis received from her brother, Roger Kuder; and a few miscellaneous items. In addition there is a small booklet that was a 60th anniversary gift to Allen and Phyllis from their granddaughter, Lucy Knisley.
