Benjamin Stanton letter to Mary Stanton, 1844 July 22
Scope and Contents
Benjamin Stanton's handwritten letter to his daughter Mary Stanton is written while he was attending a convention in Columbus, Ohio. Mary and Caroline (sister?) seem to be on vacation in Granville, Ohio. They might be staying with a Mr. Bush. In the letter, Stanton is checking up on Mary and is disappointed that she has spent all her money, informing her that he has set up an account for her. He sent a pair of shoes and $5 with this letter. The letter is signed "B. Stanton." Three letters from the Ohio University Special Collections and Denison University Library attempting to identify Stanton as the author of the letter are filed in this folder.
