Thomas Theaker recommendation, 1876 March 29
Scope and Contents
This is a recommendation by Thomas Theaker for Dudley Curle "As a fit gentleman to be appointed to the office of Centennial Juror," specifically one of the Judges of Awards. It refers to the United States Centennial Commission organized in Philadelphia preparing for the nation's 100th birthday and a related exhibition. Curle had worked for Theaker in the U.S. Patent Office. It is written on the stationery of the National Hotel, F. Tenney & Co., Washington D.C. Thomas Theaker was a U.S. Congressman from Belmont County, Ohio. He served in Congress from 1859 to 1861. He was also appointed Commissioner of Patents in 1865.
