History of The Edison Biotechnology Institute
The Edison Biotechnology Institute (EBI) is an Ohio University (OU) research institute established in 1984. The mission is to research and develop new technology, and to transfer that technology to the private sector for economic benefit in Ohio. The research focuses on the molecular or genetic basis of diseases that disproportionately affect the people of Appalachian Ohio. Faculty participating in research at the EBI come from three academic colleges within OU: Osteopathic Medicine, Arts & Sciences, and Engineering. EBI was formerly the Edison Animal Biotechnology Center.
