Scope and Content
The contents of this collection include items regarding the concerts and ceremonies that took place at Ohio University during the years 1962-1972. Most of the materials in this collection are in regards to performances that took place during these years. This includes performances such as theater, pop concerts, folk festivals, orchestra concerts, and also several lecture series. The bulk of the material in this collection focuses on the administrative factor in running these events. A majority of the papers include contracts, ticket prices, sales data, and advertising information. This collection is broken up into two sections: Concerts and Ceremonies/Events.
The Concert portion of the collection consists of the concert events that took place between the years 1966-1972. Most of the information concerning concerts includes contracts and newspaper advertisements for the concerts. Some of the major acts that Ohio University has had come through their doors are Led Zeppelin, James Brown, Bill Cosby, The Supremes, The WHO, and several others. Also included in the concert section is information from the Augustana College concert, and the Coffee House Circuit that Ohio University hosted in the sixties. Along with these, the concert portion also includes papers from President Alden concerning concerts and events at the college, as well as the different programs for concerts and events.
The Ceremonies and Events section consists of the general information regarding several major college events. Some of these events include the ground breaking of several new Ohio University campuses, programs of lecture series, convocation information, the mock republican convention, and Negro History Week. These folders contain information concerning guest lists, advertisements, articles, programs, and speeches.
This collection is a good description of college life during the 1960s and the impact it had on Ohio University Students. The ticket and administrative information reveals the interest levels of the students and what they found interesting at the time. It also reveals the behavior and problems within the student body at the time, such as concert behavior, their roles in certain events, and what events they decided to attend.

Abstract
The Ohio University Concerts and Ceremonies Collection contains materials from 1962-1972 regarding concerts, school events, ceremonies, programs, and lectures. Some of these materials include contracts, newspaper clippings, programs, articles, calenders, speeches, letters, photographs, and pamphlets. Most of the material in this collection is administrative and committee papers regarding certain events. This collection is divided up chronologically by topic.
Arrangement
This collection is organized chronologically by topic: Concerts and Ceremonies. The Concerts section contains events such as pops concerts, orchestra performances, and coffee circuits. The Ceremonies section contains events such as ground breakings, dinners, negro history week, and mock republican debates.
