History of The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1961-1965, Athens Chapter
The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865 national organization was organized on Memorial Day, May 30, 1885 in Massillon, Ohio, and was incorporated in Ohio on December 12, 1885.
The Athens chapter of this society was referred to as "Tent #100" under the direction of Mrs. John Ellis Wool.

Acquisition Information
The Ohio University Archives received the collection as a gift on September 22, 1977 by Ohio University professor of philosophy, George Weckman. Mr. Weckman found the materials in "Fenzel House" (former residence of accounting professor, William H. Fenzel) located on Park Place, after Weckman purchased the home.
Existence and Location of Copies
Ohio University will entertain requests to photocopy reasonable amounts of material from the collection for the convenience of individual researchers.
