Jessanne Timon Allen Scrapbook collection

The Jessanne Timon Allen (JTA) Scrapbook collection consists of four scrapbooks compiled by JTA during her time as a student at Ohio University (OU). All materials date from 1966 to 1971. The scrapbooks involve and capture the entire range of JTA's activities and life at OU.

Each scrapbook deals with a single academic year. They contain plane tickets, bills, souvenirs from nights out, photographs, newspaper clippings and event tickets. Highlights include tickets for the Temptations, the Association, and Martha and the Vandellas; and color photographs of the May 1968 flood.

The scrapbooks are organized chronologically. Not only does each book deal with a single academic year, the contents of the books start in the fall and end in the spring. A timeline of events from the beginning of her time at OU until the end an be drawn simply by following the books in the appropriate order. Meanwhile, there is little to nothing about her life during winter and summer breaks.

No materials were removed during accession, nor were materials edited. The materials themselves passed from JTA to Betty Hollow (BH), who was writing a history of OU. They then were given to the Archives by BH. In the intervening years between their creation and accession, some of the adhesive material has decayed significantly, resulting in items no longer being attached to their pages. Little can be done to stop this process, and the items are understandably fragile.
