Scope and Content
The Columbus, Sandusky and Hocking Railroad Company records include correspondence from the Columbus, Sandusky and Hocking Railroad to investor Henry Putnam (HP). These papers deal with information concerning tonnage, car loading, materials hauled, bonds and receivership. Some of the letters deal with insolvency and receivership of the company and HP's legal advisors' attempts to salvage his interests.

History of the Columbus, Sandusky and Hocking Railroad
The Columbus, Sandusky and Hocking Railroad was created in 1893 by the consolidation of the Columbus, Shawnee and Hocking and the Sandusky and Columbus Short Line. It ran from Columbus to Sandusky passing through Marion. It ultimately became a part of the Toledo Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad through leases and mergers. In 1964 the Norfolk and Western Railway bought the line from PR. As of 2010, it is known as the Sandusky District of the Norfolk Southern Railway.
