The William H. Culver, Jr. (WHC) diary is cloth bound and entitled "My Stretch in the Service." In it, WHC describes his actions in training, on June 6, 1944 during the invasion, and the aftermath.

Biography of William H. Culver, Jr.
William H. Culver, Jr. (WHC) was from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a lieutenant (junior grade) in the United States Navy during World War II. His assignment was as leader of team number 2 of a Naval Combat Demolition Group assigned to Dog Green, OMAHA Beach for the Normandy beach invasion on June 6, 1944. After that operation, WHC was sent back to England and then the United States.

Custodial History
The diary was purchased by the Ohio University Libraries from a dealer in 2004. Intellectual rights were transferred to Ohio University by Culver's family in 2024.
