Scope and Content
Agnes Hill Research notes on Coolville History consists of different documents (obituaries, genealogical records, letters, notebooks) related to Coolville History which were collected by the author during her work on the book "History of Coolville, Ohio: 1818-1968". Materials include a Coolville District Camp Meeting Association Daybook, copy of original maps of the town, a copy of original minutes, and a copy of the first by-laws as written when the village was incorporated in 1835. Her history of the village also includes pictures taken during the early 1900s and information on families, churches, organizations and businesses during these years. The collection also includes correspondence of Hill with different people related to collecting necessary research materials.

Biography of Agnes Hill
Agnes Hill was the author of such books as Tuppers Plains and the surrounding area of Olive and Orange Townships : stories and pictures of the yesterdays (Alden Library, Archives & Special Collections), "The Swiss colony, 1819, near Athens, Ohio [microform] : stories, maps, and data (Alden Library), and finally - "History of Coolville, Ohio: 1818-1968". Mrs. Hill came to Tuppers Plains as a teenager. Here she graduated from the high School and soon after married Robert Hill. History writing was always a hobby for Mrs. Hill. She was a member of the Meigs County Pioneer and Historical Society and The Athens County Historical Society. She completed her book "History of Coolville, Ohio: 1818-1968", which includes a copy of original plat of the town as drawn in 1818 for Ashel Cooley, a copy of original minutes, a picture of the first mayor and a copy of the first by-laws as written when the village was incorporated in 1835. Her history of village also includes pictures taken during the early 1900s and information on families, churches, organizations and businesses during these years.
