Biography of Harvey Lehman
Born in 1889, Harvey Lehman (HL) received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1925, and spent most of his career at Ohio University (OU). HL joined the OU psychology faculty in 1927, and became a full professor in 1935. HL's research concentrated on early child development and educational psychology, including investigations into sex differences, giftedness, and play. His interests began to shift toward adult development, and in 1935 he published a piece in Psychological Bulletin on the relation between creative productivity and chronological age. This is the research topic for which he is best known. Though HL published over 150 works, his best known is the 1953 book "Age and Achievement."
