Berry Hall scrapbook
Scope and Content
The Berry Hall (BH) scrapbook chronicles the activities of the residents of this Ohio University (OU) dormitory from 1965 to 1969. The creator of the scrapbook is unknown. The scrapbook is made of up of mostly photographs with typewritten captions. The photos deal with the activities of the BH men which included; creating a booth for a carnival, dinners, receptions, one wedding, many parties, dorm meetings, and candid shots of residents. Also included in the scrapbook are lists by quarter of the council and cabinet members as well as the resident director, and the graduate assistant. The scrapbook also documents the members of the BH sports teams such as archery, ping pong, bridge, bowling and golf. Photos were taken inside BH and around the OU campus.
The scrapbook has large black covers embossed with Ohio University on the front cover. The pages are covered in plastic and the photos are firmly affixed to the pages. This scrapbook is in excellent condition.

Biography of Ed Berry
Ed Berry was a successful entrepreneur who began as a bricklayer. Berry Hall (BH) began as Ed Berry's ice cream shop on North Court Street. It evolved into the Hotel Berry and later the Berry Hotel. It was affectionately known as "The Berry." The Berry Hotel was purchased by Ohio University in 1962 for use as a residence hall and offices. BH was demolished in 1974 and the spot stood empty for many years. A diner now sits on the site. A historic marker for "The Berry" was unveiled May 23, 2004 at the location.
