The Emmett A. Conway papers span from 1954 to 1971 and contain records from EAC's career in forestry. Biography of Emmett A. Conway, Sr.
Emmett A. Conway, Sr. (EAC), received bachelors and masters degrees in forestry and conservation from the University of Michigan. In 1941, EAC became a Forest Ranger of Lake Hope Park and Zaleski State Forest. He switched to forestry research in 1948 to make a timber inventory and suggest management plans. In 1951 EAC became manager of the McArthur Division of D. B. Frampton & Co., the first modern lumber company in Southeastern Ohio. EAC also assisted in the creation of the Vinton Furnace Forest Experimental Station of the U.S. Forest Service. He joined Ohio University in 1964 and became director of the Resource Development Section of the Development Planning Institute. His work involved research in industrial and tourism planning. EAC's official retired in 1976.
