The Anna Pearl McVay Postcard Collection includes over 800 postcards documenting Germany, England, Great Britain and the United States. Dates range from 1904 through the 1950's. Each postcard is documented by date, title, publisher, place and image. The postcards are arranged in original order and housed in 4 boxes.

Abstract
The Anna Pearl McVay Postcard Collection includes over 800 postcards with dates ranging from 1904 through the 1950's. The collection is arranged in its original order and housed in four boxes. The postcards document the travels of Ms. McVay through Germany, England, Great Britain and the United States. German cities include Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, and Dusseldorf. Postcards from England illustrate London, York, Cambridge, Bath and Canterbury. Additional destinations in Great Britain are Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland, as well as Tintern and Chepstow in Wales. Early images of Boston, Philadelphia, Mt. Vernon, Washington D.C. and New York are included in the United States post card section. European postcard publishers include Trinks, Friedrich, Frith, and Burgess. American publishers include Union News, Leighton and Valentine, Easton and Bosselman. Ms. McVay (1871-1962) was an educator and a lecturer. Born in Athens, Ohio, she attended Ohio University, Bryn Mawr, and Columbia University. She was a teacher and principal in several High Schools in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. Her travels included research and scholarship in the areas of history, literature and education.
