Scope and Content
The College of Education (COE) records span from 1880 to 1999 and document the activities of this academic college at Ohio University. The collection includes records from former departments within the COE and records on the later collaborations with United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This collaboration was facilitated earlier through the Center for International Studies.

History of the College of Education
The first Normal course at Ohio University was created in 1831, with a Model School being added in 1837. The Normal Department at Ohio University was founded in 1886, and was the first state-supported teacher preparation program in Ohio. These were the predecessors of the College of Education.
