Biography of William F. Townsend
William F. Townsend was from Meigs County, Ohio, and served as a Major in the Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. In 1900, Pomeroy, Ohio's newspaper The Leader began publishing Townsend's reminisces of the Civil War.
