Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association records
Scope and Content
The Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association records are primarily span from 1967 to 1995 and document the activities of this organization and the activities of the entities that created it. The records include drafts of the constitution and bylaws, correspondence, minutes and agenda of meetings, treasurer's and committee reports, strategic planning materials, semi-annual conference materials, membership rosters, publications, position papers, speeches, photographs and resolutions. Also included, because if their importance in the formation of OCHEA, are limited amounts of records from predecessor organizations and the Ohio Board of Regent's Task Force on a Statewide Continuing Education Association (1982-1983). Of great importance to the beginnings of organized continuing education in the state of Ohio is material from the predecessor organization, Ohio Council of Higher Continuing Education (1967-1984). These files include material detailing efforts to resolve conflicting views on the definition and mission of continuing education related to project and policy proposals (1968-1970) for the Higher Education Act of 1965 Title I funding. Also included is a lesser amount of files from the other predecessor group, Ohio Continuing Education Council (1977-1983).

History of the Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association
In an effort to establish an all-encompassing statewide higher education association, the Ohio Continuing Higher Education Association (OCHEA) was formed in 1983 by the merger of two pre-existing groups, the Ohio Continuing Education Council (OCEC) and the Ohio Council of Higher Continuing Education (OCHC.) The OCEC was comprised of two-year colleges. The OCHC was comprised of four-year public institutions. OCHEA is a not-for-profit organization of accredited, non-profit, degree-granting institutions of higher education in Ohio.
