Ewing Collection
Scope and Content
Most of the content in this collection was collected by Thomas Ewing. Thomas Ewing was an Ohio Politician who followed the National Republican and Whig parties. He also served as Secretary of the Treasury under President Harrison and President Tyler. He later served as Secretary of the Interior under President Taylor and Fillmore. He also served as a senator for a term. In the family portion of the collection, there is a folder for William Tecumsah Sherman. This is because Thomas Ewing took Sherman in as a foster child early on. He baptized him as a Catholic, and also gave him the Christian name William.
This collection contains biographical and genealogical information concerning the Ewing family. The first box contains lectures, court case pamphlets, and centennial information from Thomas Ewing. The second box contains information on several members of the Ewing family, and some information on the family in general.
