Algebra seminar | “Wedding Rings” and Rings for Other Occasions, May 23

The Mathematics Department Algebra Seminar features Steve Szabo , Eastern Kentucky University, discussing “Wedding Rings” and Rings for Other Occasions on May 23 from 4-5 p.m. in Morton 326 and via Zoom .

Szabo earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University in 2009.

Abstract:  We will consider many ring classes and show how they are interrelated. The talk will stem from our taxonomy of Dedekind finite and reflexive rings which includes many well-known ring classes. Further connections to McCoy rings, 2-primal rings and I-abelian rings will be discussed. Also, the ring class inclusions will be considered under some finiteness conditions such as finite and the von Neumann regular property.
