Founded by Ohio University alumnus David M. Crane, the Crane Graduate Fellowship supports an applicant to an M.A. program in the Center for International Studies who will earn or has earned an undergraduate degree or degrees from OHIO.

Applicants are not required to have majored in Global Studies. All M.A. applicants may apply, but preference will be given to OHIO undergraduate alumni. The fellowship provides $10,000 per academic year, with possible renewal for up to two years. All applicants must be a full-time graduate student enrolled in or accepted for admission to any master’s level program in the Center for International Studies at Ohio University.

Crane is one of the most recognized international criminal lawyers in the world, having served as the founding Chief Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone. He earned a bachelor’s degree in History  in 1972 and a master’s in African Studies in 1973. He was presented an Honorary Doctorate of Letters Degree at the OHIO  Graduate Commencement in 2017. He earned a Juris Doctor from Syracuse University in 1980.
