Athens Algebra Seminar,  Jan. 30

In the upcoming news, the Algebra Seminar series is set to convene on Tuesday, January 30, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Morton Hall. Advancing the ongoing presentation series titled "Embrace the Braces", the speaker will be Thang Vo, a Mathematics teaching assistant. Vo will discuss Skew braces and solutions to the Yang-Baxter Equation during the session.

Abstract:  The Yang-Baxter equation holds significant importance in pure mathematics and physics. In 2007, Rump introduced braces as a generalization of radical rings related to solutions of the Yang-Baxter Equations. L. Guarnieri and L. Vendramin later extended Rump's braces to the non-commutative setting, utilizing skew braces structure to explore non-involutive non-degenerate set-theoretical solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation. This talk offers a survey of skew braces and discusses solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation
