Casting the Web uses the freedom of fantasy and games to explore ideas about gender in a space unconstrained by traditional rationality or consequences. Accessed entirely on the web, Casting is an “Interactive Mixtape” where visitors play their way through songs presented as interactive games, ranging from peaceful meditations to an immersive sacrifice simulation. Users will play from the perspectives of righteous monster and helpless victim as they complete the “onboarding” process for a ruthless internet coven. This mixtape presents a collage of new methods for music artists to distribute work to potential listeners, examining song as game and album as worldbuilding document.
