Dr. Mike Young will be the guest speaker for the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry Colloquium: Improving the Synthetic Organometallic Toolbox for Nitrogen-Containing Compounds. Dr. Young is an Associate Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Toledo.

Abstract:

 Organometallic chemistry has revolutionized the types of disconnections that can be used to prepare new organic molecules. Our group has been extensively-focused on exploring ways to make new nitrogen containing products, either through C–H activation and alkene functionalization of compounds that already have amines, or through formation of new C–N bonds. Applications in treatment of opioid use disorders will be briefly discussed.
