The Kennedy Museum of Art’s November Community Open Studio will be inspired by Ahren Lee's woven work Timesheet Nov 4-10, 2018
, currently on display in the Self Adjacent
exhibition. This workshop will explore weaving and timekeeping in cloth. Participants will use fabric, yarn, thread, and found materials as warp and weft to complete a small wall hanging. Together, we will discuss the ways Lee used weaving to document labor time, then experiment with texture and color in our own mini weavings. Participants are invited to bring cord, yarn, thread, or found materials to incorporate into their work. All levels of experience are welcome and materials will be provided for those that do not bring their own. Weaving requires some hand-dexterity, but can be modified for many abilities.
Instructor: Len Loomis- MFA in Sculpture + Expanded Practices & current MAA Graduate Student. Assisted by Education Team Staff: Hannah Moulen- Graduate Student, Printmaking.
KMA Open Studio is a FREE program for visitors of all ages to engage in shared creative activities. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.
