Since joining the State Department\, he has served in Kuwai t\, Bahrain\, Qatar\, and France\, as well as several headquarters position s in Washington. In 2019\, he was assigned to serve as Special Advisor to t he Vice President for the Middle East\, working at the White House with Vic e Presidents Pence and Harris.\n\n \n\nSince May of 2021\, Hood has served as the Senior Advisor to the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemiti sm\, Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt. \n\n \n\nDuring his three foreign serv ice assignments on the Arabian Peninsula and in his capacity as the Vice Pr esident’s Middle East advisor in 2019-2021\, Hood was involved in regional developments and discussions culminating in the 2020 agreements between Isr ael and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain\, known as the Abraham Accords . In his CHI talk\, Hood will discuss regional trends and leadership dynami cs that contributed to the signing of the Abraham Accords and other ongoing \, profound changes in the Middle East and North Africa.
