The DMV Bobcats from the Nation’s Capital Alumni Network and Ebony Bobcat Network have teamed up to help clean the Potomac River watershed in Fairfax County, VA. We are scheduled to clean a section of the Potomac River shoreline in John Byers Park from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. Parking is available on side streets near the park.

Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) will have vinyl gloves available, but if you have a specific size or type of glove you prefer, we recommend bringing those. Trash bags also will be provided. If you have any trash pickers, those might be helpful so you’re not bending down as much (we do not provide pickers). Also, long pants and waterproof boots are recommended. Typically, rainboots work, but you may see some folks wearing muck boots. It really depends on the weather leading up to the workday. Waders or hip-boots will not be needed. FCPA typically has staff take care of trash in deeper waterways. Most of the trash is plastic bags/bottles and cans, but we get unusual items every year.

We look forward to working with you to help keep our Potomac River shoreline beautiful. Thank you in advance for signing up to join in.

Don't miss this opportunity to join Bobcats around the world in celebrating Bobcat Beautification Day!
