Boynton is Professor of Music and Historical Musicology at Columbia Univers
ity. Her research interests include liturgy and music in medieval Western m
onasticism\; manuscript studies\; music in the Iberian peninsula\; music an
d childhood\; and intersections of music with the visual arts. Boynton is
widely published\, including Shaping a Monastic Identity: Liturgy and Histo
ry at the Imperial Abbey of Farfa\, 1000-1125 (2006)\; Silent Music: Mediev
al Song and the Construction of History in Eighteenth-Century Spain (2011)\
; and the co-edited volumes: The Practice of the Bible in the Middle Ages (
2011)\; Resounding Images: Medieval Intersections of Art\, Music\, and Sou
