About this Event
View map Add to calendarJoin us for a Family Open Studio happening in conjunction with the exhibition Merging Concepts: In These Moments . We will begin with a conversation in the gallery about Candace Hicks’s Common Threads , which is part of a series of embroidered composition notebooks. In the studio, participants will have the opportunity to create embroidered artworks of their own using the cross-stitch technique. Gridded cloth, embroidery floss, metal needles, blunt plastic needles, plastic mesh, and yarn will be provided in order to accommodate all age groups. For very young children, crayons and gridded paper will provide them an opportunity to simulate a cross-stitch pattern.
Assisted by students from the Museum Studies Certificate Program: Catie Perez-Strohmeyer - Undergraduate, B.F.A. Studio Art and Carman Reichman - Undergraduate, B.A. History
