About Tariq Tarey:

Tariq Tarey is currently the Director of Refugee Social Services at Jewish Family Services in Columbus, Ohio. He serves on Ohio’s New African Immigrants Commission and the Franklin County Board of Commissioner’s New American Advisory Council. Tariq is also a documentary photographer, skilled in both still photography and filmmaking. 

About From Struggle to Strength: 

By way of stunning photographs and stories, meet a group of Central Ohio residents who were once forced to flee their homes and become among the millions of refugees who have found hope and resilience in the face of adversity. Discover how these individuals endured their arduous journeys to find a place to rebuild their lives. This exhibition is on display at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio through Thursday, April 28, 2024

About Explore Your Neighborhood:

Explore the Neighborhood is an experiential learning opportunity with a focus on diversity in Ohio. This project will include hands-on activities, speakers, a book discussion group, and digital storytelling. This event was part of the Explore the Neighborhood ( ohio.edu/lancaster/neighborhood ) series and was paid for in part by a grant from the OHIO University Office of Experiential Learning.

About the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio (DACO):

DACO delivers education programs for all ages including clay, drawing, painting and fiber arts in the Wendel Center for Art Education. Public programs such as gallery talks and workshops are offered, too. Visitors will find an elegantly designed Museum Shop with exhibition-related, seasonal and gift-perfect items.
