Register for a local walk around the Ridges campus guided by Len Lo omis\, graduate student in Sculpture in the School of Art + Design. With bl ocks of wet clay in hand\, participants will make impressions of built or n atural details that visually “define” this place. The raw clay acts as a ma terial to enhance our sense of touch and physical connection to our surroun dings. One side of each ceramic object captures the textures lifted from th e surface that the participant presses their clay into\, while the other si de is marked by the hand that once held it. The resulting “souvenirs” will become records of particular moments in time and place.
